It is the worst of FOMO - something I see exploited more and more in live service games, often to an unhealthy degree. The result is a demo that is completely disrespectful of our time. Restricting it to 30 minutes of game time is at best stingey, at worst needlessly anxiety-inducing. Let's say you do have the time to play the demo. There was an eight hour window to play the demo for half-an-hour only. (Matt's Resident Evil Village demo rollout guide is super useful!) Last night's demo went live in the UK at 6pm and ended just eight hours later, at 2am. I'd had a vague understanding that Capcom was rolling out the Resident Evil Village demo in time-limited chunks - something I thought was an idiotic idea at the time - but I did not realise just how time-limited it would be. So this morning, before the kids woke up for school and nursery, I turned my PlayStation 5 on, pressed X on Resident Evil Village, and. No bother! I'll play the demo tomorrow, I thought. After we put the kids to bed, the few precious hours my wife and I had to ourselves before we collapsed in sleep were spent watching something inane on telly while having a chat. I even pre-downloaded it! But I couldn't - I have a wife and two young children and Sundays are my only family day. The only downside is that the playable Maiden demo isn’t available on PC.I wanted to play the Resident Evil Village demo that launched on PlayStation on Sunday evening. Plus, the online multiplayer game, Resident Evil Re:Verse, is included when you purchase this one. It offers a whole new intriguing plot in an altogether-different setting and showcases beloved gameplay mechanics, as well as gorgeous graphical overhauls from the RE Engine. Resident Evil Village may be continuing a previous story but that doesn’t make it any less stellar when compared to past RE games. The graphics have been thoroughly enhanced, though. Much of the gameplay is the same, but the inventory system here is notably similar to RE4’s. However, the reappearance of someone familiar to the couple sets off a chain of events that lead to a whole new nightmare. The story is set a few years after the events of RE7, wherein Ethan and Mia are now living peacefully in a snowy remote location. In this title, you play in the first-person perspective again and control Ethan Winters, the protagonist of the previous game. This gameplay style had been a divergence from the action-shooter genre of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 and instead, had been a return to the original games’ survival horror focus on exploration. Resident Evil Village, also known as “ Resident Evil 8”, follows up on both of RE7’s storyline and gameplay.
